HSE University — Nizhny Novgorod reported on the international academic and educational trip of Timur Khusyainov, deputy dean of the Faculty of Humanities and creator of the Pochtovoe project. In Brazil and South Korea he presented research on postcards at major international conferences and also held meetings and educational events in several countries along the way.

The research treats the postcard as a complex historical source. Postcards can be used to study social ties, relations between cities and rural areas, family and emotional communication, gender roles, and changes in everyday life. The article also discusses the digital corpus “Pishu tebe” and the possibilities of digital methods for working with large collections of postcards.

The trip offered an opportunity to present Russian research experience to the international academic community and to develop new contacts for future studies and cooperation involving the Pochtovoe project.
