Map of Postal Landmarks

2025 — Present

The Map of Postal Landmarks is a volunteer project aimed at identifying, describing, and promoting sites connected with the history of postal services and the culture of correspondence.

The project brings together researchers, collectors, local historians, students, and everyone interested in postal history. Together, we are creating an open map of monuments, museums, historic post offices, central postal buildings, memorial plaques, postman sculptures, philatelic exhibitions, and other sites related to the development of postal communication in Russia and around the world.

Why is this important?

Postal services are not only a means of communication, but also an essential part of cultural and social history. Through postal buildings, monuments, postcards, and stamps, it is possible to trace the development of cities, changes in society, and the everyday lives of people.

The map helps to:
— preserve information about postal heritage sites;
— encourage interest in local history;
— support educational and tourist routes;
— unite the research and volunteer community;
— promote postal heritage among a wider audience.

How can you participate?

Anyone can become a volunteer of the project:
— suggest a site for inclusion on the map;
— prepare a description of a monument or building;
— provide photographs;
— clarify historical information;
— help translate materials into foreign languages.

All materials undergo editorial review and are published with attribution.

The “Map of Postal Landmarks” project is a contribution to preserving cultural memory and developing scientific volunteering. We believe that even small elements of the urban environment can tell a great story.

Join us — together we can make postal heritage visible.
