Centralized Library System of Sormovsky District, Nizhny Novgorod

Currently, the Municipal Cultural Institution “Centralized Library System” of Sormovsky District, Nizhny Novgorod, brings together 11 libraries: 7 for adult readers and 4 for children. With a universal collection of more than 300,000 items, extensive electronic information resources, and Internet access, the libraries of the Sormovsky Library System serve as public information centers for more than 35,000 users of all ages, including through remote services available online.

For many years, the libraries of the system have hosted 26 clubs and amateur groups for readers of all ages. They provide both adults and children with opportunities for personal development, communication with interesting people, discovering new information on topics of interest, and enjoying their free time.

Particular attention is paid to library services for people with disabilities. The libraries build collections of literature for visually impaired readers and audiobooks, actively cooperate with a specialized library for the blind and the district society for people with disabilities, and provide home library services to readers with mobility impairments. Considerable work is also being carried out to create an accessible environment in the libraries.

Through all its activities, the Sormovsky Library System strives to make its libraries true information, cultural, and communication centers for local residents — a “third place” after home, education, and work.
